I only got that error when i was trying to run x as a user on my machine
while running x a s root or someone else too. although because i have
asingle user machine I havent had much need for it but you might wanna
install x nested server and run x from within x ( i think that is what it
is supposed to do havent used it personally).you can try that and see if
it works
