E dr15 segfaulted when you tried to use gnome stuff in it? that is odd.
E dr15 works very well and close with gnome. _but_ probably not with
old gnome. E dr15 is cvs, wouldn't you expect bleeding edge wm code
to use the bleeding edge of the gnome code? if you want dr15 E (cvs),
(which is worlds better than dr14) then get also cvs gnome.
for those who want to embark:

( make sure you have latest autoconf, automake, libtool and gettext, make)
export CVSROOT=":pserver:[EMAIL PROTECTED]:/cvs/gnome"
cvs login
    hit enter for the password
cvs -z3 co gnome
cvs -z3 co e
cvs -z3 co fnlib

go into gnome/ and use ./autogen.sh then make then make install in order:
glib, gtk+, imlib, audiofile, esound, fnlib (not gnome/), e (not in gnome/)
after that, in gnome/, install:
    ORBit, gnome-libs, gnome-core, gnome-utils, control-center, then
whatever else of gnome you desire.

that should get you up and gnoming, it is a pain, but it is good.
