Personally, I don't really think CD-RW is that big a deal. Sure, you can
erase the data when you're done. and there's no coasters. But media is
less thatn $1 a pop, so who really cares about those coasters? By the
time you've picked up one CD-RW, you could have had 12+ CD-R's. And
don't get me started on Backups. If you want a decent backup, get the
CD-R or a Tape drive. It's impossible to erase those CD-R's, yet anyone
could access the CD-RW and erase the data.
Of course, it's all my opinion. No doubt others share different views.

(and RW only burns at 2x these days. so... it's your money. I'd just
rather by the CD-R. media isn't as expensive as it used tobe)
