I agree completely. What the hell do you want? to watch some greasy haired kid
sitting at his xterm in his underwear compiling source? Hackers was a good
movie, but I don't know about all the talk about the attitudes and
personalities of a hacker. It's like they blurred a line between hackers and
raver-kids. It was all about being part of some underground scene.
As for inaccuracies, anytime I watch the sci-fi channel, and they say ANYTHING
that has ANYTHING to do with computers, they just throw together some random
technical jargon to make the average idiot not understand. I mean look at
wargames...that's pretty dope that every .gov site used the same
encryption key, and that there's just this kewl little menu right there waiting
to be accessed from anyone dialing up. And how many schools have computerized
sprinkler systems that you can set up a test time for? And where the HELL are
the usernames on these people's accounts? Altho little details like these may
annoy those of us who know what's up, the movie is still kewl cuz of how he
uses his exceptional knowledge of computers to come out on top of his power
struggles. Half baked? How about something more classic like Cheech and
Chong? Anyways, I've never seen Replacement Killers....so that gets my vote.
Pulp fiction is cool, but four rooms is better...I don't know how many of you
have seen that one...but i think it's the best Tarantino(sp?) that I've seen.
later.
