Ok, cool, I'll try to explain myself a little more clearly here :)

I want a request for www.mydomainname.com to go to the ip of host-a and forward
to www.host-b.net/~foo
Sooo, someone types in my domain name. At register.com, I have entered the ip
of my server, host-a. So host-a gets the request, and (in theory :)
automagically forwards it to the index page residing at www.host-b.edu/~foo
So essentially, it's going from ip to ip/~foo.
Hope this helps somewhat...

lol! I was bowled over when I found out it didn't take gobs of computing power
to run a non-MS operating system :) :) :)

Ok, cool. I suppose my greatest concern now is which one out of the 3 you
listed works best with whatever program runs the ip forwarding (apache?). Does
apache come with either of these by chance? Or is it something that must be
downloaded later? I don't need the server os to look pretty, however that
would be a plus. IOW, I want to install the os, install the forwarding
proggie, and be done with it. Then I can tinker around with other stuff later
:)

I sure appreciate the help!
Thanks,
Andrew
