xvidtune is helpful for tweaking. Be careful - with RedHat 7.1 you probably need to edit /etc/X11/XF86Config-4 instead of /etc/X11/XF86Config. I have just added Modeline entries in the "Monitor" section of /etc/X11/XF86Config-4 in the past and things have worked.
