Hi All, also delurking as suggested by Elias !

My name is sidnei (sounds like the city most of us live in) but my
friends call me sid.

I started out with computers in early highschool doing VB (LOL) did 3
unit computers and found out that i was pretty ok at it. I went to
sydney university and did computer science. Loved the course,
specially all the coding/engineering/technical subjects. My group and
I did a project for software engineering using this (dont know if you
guys know) language called bullant and we did quite well, came first
actually.

I was excited about graduating and thought that the world was going to
be fun and exciting, however to my dismay it was pretty boring and
average. I worked for a consulting company after graduating called
logicaCMG. It was alright and i did alot of SCADA/Realtime systems
development and some infrastructure and networking also, so dabbled in
most things. In hindsight im glad this was the way things went.

Anyhoo, kind of got bored with the repetative nature of work so i
started doing uni again part time and did a masters of engineering in
computing at the university of NSW and my love of computers was
rejuvinated again (it kind of died during my 1.5 years of work cause
computers became boring) I did subjects like robotics which was hella
exciting .... I also went to poland to present a thesis i did and had
a great time there ...

Luckily just after i finished my masters i was sent to work in south
east asia to work on a greenfields telecommunications rollout. This
was the experience of my life and i attribute alot of what i know to
my 2.5 year stint working in south east. The project was massive, the
environment was very different and you learn alot about life in a
project this big (specially when you are a loley engineer networking
these systems)

After that i came back to australia and worked on the crazy johns
telecommunications network rollout (you know how crazy johns now acts
as an MVNO) yeh that was pretty good and very interesting (and not
always in a good way) in its self (never forget the experience at
cj's) That was in melbourne.

Then after the cj's stint came back to sydney and got a job in another
consultancy company called CAP GEMINI. work is alright, very so so
guess (working for different cap clients). After a short period at cap
i got an offer to contract at Qantas and when i saw the money i left
cap it also had other benefits and i needed the time and money cause i
had started a startup at this time :) ... I worked in Qantas for a
while and ummmm yeh (quite the experience there also) At Qantas i was
project manager for support framework (ITIL V3 and all that kind of
stuf). After that contract was over i moved back to cap cause i was
needed there for a particular infrastructure project ...and to this
day here i am.

I managed to negotiate a 4 day work week here at cap so its not to
bad.

My startup will launch in the next few months or so (4 at the most) my
team and i have been working on the application in our spare time (ie
every waking moment not at work) for the last year and we are happy
with the progress. There is a team of 3 and our roles are (main core
development, interface css html javascript development and mobile
access development)

Non computer stuff:
- Not Married and probably wont be for a while (still a kid LOL) -
(but hey who knows right)
- Play Guitar and love all sorts of music
- Hanging to go for a holiday throughout asia again (havnt been for a
whole year and a half cause busy with startup when usually non working
time is holiday time =) )
- Most of my life at the moment revolves around the startup so social
life is on hold (and has been for the last year) until we launch.
Probably still be on hold for another 1 year after that LOL ....
- Blog here http://garagedc.blogspot.com very very very random
blogging style and just write whats in the mind and in the heart.

So there you have it ... thats me :)
