Great advice Dale. I remember my days at Nick's seafood restaurant in Darling Harbour, and how frustrated my manager was with the rostering process. What you describe would be revolutionary in hospitality.
FYI Another piece of software that larger companies use is retain. Piece of crap but it works - and means you corner the Large enterprise market as well like professional services.
