Hello Silicon Beachers,

In the words of Austin Powers, allow myself to introduce myself.

IT grad from UoW. Went in to Telstra's grad program and spent 7 years
there, where I got to work on some really cool stuff like launching ADSL 2+
in Australia. Completed my MBA while I was at Telstra due to a desire to
expand from engineering into business. Was offered a job in Silicon Valley
by 2Wire who were one of the vendors I managed at Telstra. So after
graduating right as the .com bubble burst, I then found myself moving the
US right as the GFC hit. Both interesting experiences to say the least.
Spent 3.5 years with 2Wire during which time Pace plc purchased them, where
I then found myself doing entirely too much travel over the Pace's UK HQ
north of Leeds. I moved to Silicon Valley to work in Silicon Valley, not
West Yorkshire, so I made the decision to leave Pace. I now head up
Professional Services for ASSIA who build DSL optimization solutions, where
I have the joy of a 2 minute commute, as ASSIA are located just around the
corner from my house. So my experience is in B2B sales and delivery to
telcos for late stage startups. Neither of the companies I have worked for
in the Bay Area could be described as being at the ramen noodle startup
stage. Having gone from a company of 50,000 employees, to one of 1,600
(Later growing to 2,600 post acquisition) to a company of 150, I have
enjoyed the challenges from operating at differing scale. It is also not
lost on me that despite my US experience being with largeish cash-flow
positive companies looking for an equity event, that these business were
once just like a lot of other businesses I see in this group; nothing more
than an idea and one or more determined people.

Anyone in the Bay Area or if you find yourself visiting, I organize an
entirely social group for Antipodeans through
Meetup.com<http://www.meetup.com/San-Francisco-Bay-Area-Aussies-Kiwis-and-Saffas/>.

We try and meet every 6-8 weeks. I also have a
blog<http://www.limaechoecho.com>,
where I provide some my advice on annoying things like visas and other
general ramblings about my life over here.
