As the late Patrick O’Brian put it, figuring out which of two larvae in a ship’s biscuit to eat was “the lesser of two weevils”
Welcome, Avanie. Middle aged male here but a lot of what you said resonated. For me the building has been writing comics for an imprint I used to read as a schoolboy. No pets since my dog sparky passed on a couple of years back, but my apartment parking is well supplied with multiple cats, most of whom that let me be on friendly terms with them. —- carbohydrate->protein conversion via larvae and eating said larvae. So far, flaxseed larvae are most promising - slightly sweet and nutty. I’m trying to figure out nutrition delivery in famine situations - seeding flour/seeds with larvae for a balanced macro profile. --srs ________________________________ From: Silklist <[email protected]> on behalf of Huda Masood via Silklist <[email protected]> Sent: Wednesday, February 25, 2026 4:50:33 PM To: Intelligent conversation <[email protected]> Cc: Huda Masood <[email protected]>; [email protected] <[email protected]> Subject: Re: [Silk] Intro! Hello 👋🏾 Welcome Avani, Was in Bangalore, now in Bonn. Upon reading your email, I went through some interesting emotions rapidly. The first was envy - „she’s described herself the way I want to describe myself but darn it, she got to it first“ The second was introspective „wait a minute, let’s inventory all the cool stuff I’m excited about and currently dabbling with“ The third was empathy „perimenopause, training, nutrition, crafts and community building“ I also have a vague stomach ache that I cannot seem to resolve but that is another cause that does not correlate :). I’m currently obsessed with - paper geometry and physical zines as a way to talk about fun Did-you-know stuff and work on my sketching practice. I’ll be holding a workshop at the local makerspace on zine making later next month. - carbohydrate->protein conversion via larvae and eating said larvae. I’m trying to figure out nutrition delivery in famine situations - seeding flour/seeds with larvae for a balanced macro profile. - working my way through skill building on Claude Cowork. 2 cats -glitch and matrix. Too many photos. Their value is enormously disproportionate to the disaster they leave in their wake. Two black cats running over bright green grass in the spring sunshine - deep contentment and gratefulness. Muddy pawprints on my white sheets - collateral damage. So great to see all the cool stuff everyone here is upto! This list seems like a fun intersection of tech, life, science, and startups, so here’s the human version of me (with enough signal to make intros easy): - I’m a community-builder by wiring. I’m very into how people find “their people” in a world that’s increasingly digital and oddly lonely. - I’m in my midlife reinvention era and I’m obsessed with the practical side of it: health optimization, behavior change, good tools, and what actually works (not just what sounds good on podcasts). - I love ideas that live at the intersection of systems + culture + humans: why things spread, why communities form, what makes products stick, what makes people trust. - I’m a cat person (two cats, a frankly unreasonable number of photos). - I love music spaces (choir/chorus-style rooms where strangers become a tiny ecosystem in 2 hours). - I’m always up for a good rabbit hole: longevity, women’s health/perimenopause, attention economics, network effects, climate solutions, and “what are we all doing with our lives, really?” If you’re building something (or investing in something) that sits anywhere in the overlap of tech + humans, or you’re new to Bangalore and want to plug into interesting circles, I’d love to meet. Reply here or feel free to intro me to someone on the list you think I’d genuinely vibe with. Also: what’s one thing you’re currently obsessed with? (Topic, tool, paper, product, niche internet corner all welcome.)
