It is perfectly possible to rip and transcode content from a HD medium. Increasingly, HD content is available on P2P networks (arguably, the medium delivery is doomed mid-term). Decent FullHD video projectors are down to 3 kEUR, or so. Once they're in 1 kEUR range...
