Imports are generally required to be labeled as such, domestic, not.
 "Made in the USA" is a matter of pride, not law...unless it's exported.
That's not to say that things don't leak through loop holes or ride a shenanigan horse through town.

The L Tryptophan poisoning deal was about mixing domestic product with import by the domestic natural products industry, not keeping track and not mentioning it on labels. That's why it was ALL yanked off the shelves till sources could be sorted out.
