A forked stick and a rock or a piece of bark fiber [string] works pretty
good for the little ones.
I suggest you try farming veggies with fangs and claws.
A garden takes habitat away from the wild, or you don't get to eat the
veggies you planted.
One way or the other, a niche is carved and the environment is competitive.

If you're concerned about the well-being of animals yet still
want to kill them and eat them, my personal opinion is you should
try hunting -- preferably with only your teeth and claws.
