then put it in hot water for a few minutes and hold a match to the opening.

All these things are water soluble and rinsing, even washing with detergent,
should remove them immediately, but it doesn't.* *
You can, however, eventually leach the stuff back out of the glass, at least
to undetectable levels*.

So how would you leach that stuff out? With a clay slurry left in the
container for a week or so?
