While I think heat in the ear is a laudable idea, I must say that being around microwaves or microwaving anthing is NOT the best way to get heat. Microwaves cause damage to a person's electromagnetic field. (And food that is cooked with microwaves loses its nutritional value and causes many, many health problems. You can read more about this on the web; sorry I don't have specific sites available.) A good idea might be to gently warm some essential oil and put the drops in the ear. There are several herbal preparations out specifically for that purpose; one of them is Hyland's Mullein Essence. Vitamin E would probably work as well.
