Hello Sylvie,

I thought that pale yellow was the natural color for cs. The cs maker that
I use gives me that color. If I leave the device on too long the yellow
gets stronger. My original instructions on using the cs maker was that a
yellow film would leave one electrode as conductivity commenced and that
was normal.

Then, where should cs be stored? Room temperature and stay away from fridge?
Should I then stay away from colored bottled, in order to allow monitoring
of cs color ?
What is "strong TE" and is that good or bad??
Sorry I'm really a pain...:-))
Sylvie

   Hi Sylvie
My phone has been out for a few days, the line having been carefully
severed by the county water main installation crew.

Pink or reddish CS has some pretty big particles and should probably not
be injested. It's OK for any other purpose.
Possible reason for it going pink could be major temperature shifts,
contaminants in the water [ I think one batch went pale violet because I
was swigging it from the bottle and might have spit into it] and maybe even
sunspotsor something.
It's a pretty rare thing and I've had about 5 batches do it in 3 years.
Something destabilizes the CS in a week or two, usually in winter, and it's
hard to get a handle on the causes.
One other person here in NC has made reddish CS with the Ole Bob and one
in Florida has had some occurance of making CS that turned Yellowish.
Other than that , no one has reported a recurring problem, just a weird one
now and then.

A several days ago I mad a 46oz batch and split it between two identical
bottles. One I placed in the kitchen, the other in the bathroom. The one
in the kitched went pale yellow in 2 days. The one in the bathroom is still
just fine after a week. THe differences in location are , the bathroom
doesn't get any sunlight whereas the kitchen doesn't get direct sunlight.
[I have had batches sitting in the sun for years with no change]
The bathroom is deeper up under the tin roof. [radiation deflector?]
The kitchen window was open allowing wide day/night temperature
fluctuations

The Ole Bob is set to walk the edge of stability as related to PPM. It
makes really strong stuff. You could back off on the run time a bit.
  Try this.
Short the electrodes together momentarily with a spoon or something to get
an idea of what full brightness of the LED is.
Start the batch with the motor not running till the LED reaches that
brightness or seed the batch with some previously made 'good' CS till the
LED is at full brightness.
Start the stirrer and let it run for one hour.

NOT scrubbing the electrodes tends to reduce fornmation of deposits. Just
wipe em off.

CS that has a strong TE will tend to appear to be any color that's around
it. Sometimes I have to take it outside to see what color it really is [or
isn't]
