Jay, It has been my understanding (I could be wrong) that the good gut bacteria are mainly concentrated in the lower bowel, where no absorption of nutrients takes place. So if they are making B vitamins, it isn't where it can do us any good (?). It is also my belief/understanding that all the good gut bacteria in the world will not produce enough B vitamins to sustain health. The function of the good bacteria, I believe (again, could be wrong) is to prevent overgrowth of bad stuff like candida which can actually damage the bowel lining. So flushes and huge intakes of water in my view, are ok for cleansing and temporary use, to clear/clean the body/intestines, but certainly not something one would want to make a daily or overfrequent practice of. Making one's own yogurt is extremely easy, does not even require purchase of a yogurt maker. Good homemade yogurt, I believe (from simple yogurt making tests) contains magnitudes of active L. acidophilus more than any wafer, and if your yogurt is successful, you know absolutely that the cultures are active and alive. Differing opinions, with supporting links welcome. paula ----- Original Message ----- From: "Jay Ice" <[email protected]>
