Hi Andy,
I'm glad that you understand that our farmlands have been 'farmed out'. But...
where are you going to get your vitamins and minerals? From our overprocessed
foods, tap water and fruits and veggies bought at the supermarket that "contain
the nutrients of cardboard???" Not there! Unless you grow your own food and
add your own organic fertilizers and have a really 'clean' well-which I don't
have any-it seems your SOL!

I see your point on the companies that take advantage of people and they sure
are out there. But in balance, there are many companies that have a good
reputation and use whole food sources for supplementation. I personally use
Garden of Life, which is amazing but there are others...Standard Process,
Solgar, even Now, etc... Believe me... look at the back of a bottle of vit/min
from Walmarts or K-marts and compare to one of the companies I mentioned. If
you know anything about vit/min you'll know the difference-if you don't... look
it up yourself or ask! By the way, the old saying goes...'you get what you pay
for.' By the way, I don't know what companies your talking about that don't
tell you what's in their product. At our store, we carry only companies that
list their products in code with the 'Supplement Facts' that is required to be
put on the label-by law. We have a couple of companies that don't put this on
their label and I don't usually recommend those.

Again this is off the topic of CS, so I will drop this. But I just had to
respond to your comment. Andy, your much better off buying a high quality,
whole food source multiple/mineral than getting something at the drug
store-probably made by a pharmaceutical company.
Good luck,
Maryanne

Hi Maryanne,
Thanks for the response. I know of the report you are talking about. It's a
quote from U.S. Senate Document 264. It's a reprint of an opinion that
originally appeared in the June 1936 issue of Cosmopolitan magazine and was
placed into the Congressional record by a Florida senator.

Anyhow, I live in an agricultural area and I agree that most of the farmland
has probably been farmed out. It may look like spinach but it contains the
nutrients of cardboard.

The point that I was trying to make, is that it's my opinion that most of the
dietary supplements on the market today are garbage. The people that are
marketing this stuff are sleaze-bags. They try to get others to do their dirty
work. "Sell enough of this crap to your family and friends and you will get
yours free!"

Eating expensive pills or drinking swill that contains a little bit of crunched
up shale, kelp, seaweed or coral isn't the answer. I think one would be better
off buying a multivitamin/multimineral supplement from Wallgreens or K-Mart.
It's a hell of a lot cheaper and at least they tell you what's in it. Then
again, you can always eat some dirt or drink a little sea water (at least it's
fresh!)

I think the real problem is that people are over breeding and using up the
worlds resources. I try to check the OT list once a day if you want to follow
up on this.

Best wishes,
Andy (^_^)
