Personal experience.
A good dose of any sort of water that's not salinated or is too saline
[like ocean water] stings my eyes for a few seconds.
Since the same dose of CS feels exactly like DW. I conclude that CS is
not the problem.

The only problem with DW in the eyes etc is that it upsets the saline
balance for a few seconds and can be uncomfortable.[Not nearly like
swimming in a chlorine pool] But it not harmful. CS stings the eyes and
irritates sinuses the same as distilled water does.
Snorting salt water does the same thing but upsets the balance the other
way towards too salty.
