I get some burning from 20% DMSO CS when I use drops in my nose. I think it is from the DMSO. I will have to try it with just the CS and see if that burns the same way. MSM could also be burning a little, have not tried that either, but I do know it is very bitter.
I know for nasal irrigation you can avoid the burning by adding some salt, I think it is 1/4 teaspoon to a cup of warm water to achieve a physiological solution, one that matches the salinity of the body and hence does not burn. It's been years since I have used it but Ethicare makes an attachment for water piks that allows you to use them for sinus irrigation. There are also some very fancy pumps made specifically for this purpose.
