No matter what we say, when we can't tolerate the heat or cold,
we know the body is not working right.
I see old and young working in the cold, wearing shorts and a short sleeved
shirt.
One morning, before 9 AM, I saw a construction worker framing a house in
near 30 deg weather wearing only a short sleeved shirt.
Awesome how they do it.
The human has a narrow range of comfort anyway. The comfort range is only
11 degrees, from 70 to 81 deg F.
Most of us, when young and healthy could tolerate great temperature ranges
for short periods of time.
The hottest place I ever worked was so hot the metal electrical boxes would
burn your hand. Metal framed glasses would burn the face. We could only
work 15 to 20 minutes, then we would take a break in the cool snack bar for
about 30 minutes.
As we get older, the body chemistry, organs, and glands gets out of balance
and we are barely comfortable in any range of temperatures.
To see how complex the chemistry really is, read the article on
sweat. It is mostly about cell chemistry and what has to happen for one
to sweat properly.
