Great words, Doug!
It's true!!! You cannot forgive anyone...but you
CAN get off your shit and look upon yourself long enough for the fear to
dissipate.
al: Well, as infrequently as I dive in the book, I'll give a
couple words...
ACIM 13.3.4: You have built your whole insane belief system because you think you would be helpless in God's Presence, and you would save yourself from His Love because you think it would crush you into nothingness. al: This and other passage there do speak fairly clearly about our fear. I'd like to put it another way (which may also be in that passage section). We are afraid to move beyond the belief that we are "less than" God, that we are weak and very much "not God." We fear to stand up in the revealed truth within us, because it is so contrary to our beliefs, to our false evidence-based world- and self-view. We are afraid to trust ourselves, to trust the voice within...because experiential evidence says it is not accurate, not clear, kind of wacky at times, fraught with lust and so on. We see this evidence pile up throughout our lives and we base our attitude upon it...even when we "say" we believe it is all false, that we are one with God, that we are perfect and so on. Therein lies the crux of the matter. It is not so much that we must deeply and thoroughly pore over our problem-oriented world, or even our attitudes overall, but that we must simply walk right past all that...and begin to trust. Trust (charity) starts at home...and then is shared as our unlearning distrust makes us charitable and trusting. Trusting self is the only way to open the inner gates. Tell God to go jump in the lake...for there is no God separate from you...only you. And you can take it...very freeing. Quit worrying about how to get back to heaven and God, and start smiling and relaxing into who you really are. It is WAY easy....and it has HUGE rewards. "They that wait upon the Lord shall renew their strength..." - especially once they truly realize just who the "Lord" is!!! Frankly, if you're not God, you're not worth saving...because only God is worthy. If you need forgiveness, you're out of luck, because God cannot forgive the guilty, and the guiltless need no forgiveness. It's true!!! You cannot forgive anyone...but you CAN get off your shit and look upon yourself long enough for the fear to dissipate. The inner light can answer any of this world's queries and resolve any of its problems. Beyond all of these concerns, the inner light will show you who you are and your relationship to all...and bring you an understanding of love and peace that transcends ordinary human thought processes.
