As I understand it, QMP1.1.1r1 has lesser relay control capabilities 
than SIMS. You may want to demo this for your client by using a good 
relay tester like the abuse.net one to poke at his server. Those 
issues may be addressed with the newer version of QMP, but if I read 
the pricing right, upgrading 50 users and a server for 50 users is a 
4-figure cost. It may also be that his current version and that hefty 
upgrade cost is keeping him on an older version of MacOS.

On the other hand, as I understand it QMP does things SIMS does not 
and almost surely never will. It has gadgetry akin to Exchange and 
Notes that some offices really like. If his users are fond of those 
features, switching is not an option. Of course, if they only really 
need SMTP and POP3, SIMS is certainly an alternative to sticking with 
a rather old piece of software or upgrading at a stiff price.
