Quickmail Pro Server is kind of good, but it was getting on my nerves
until I replaced it with SIMS about a year ago (actually about one
second after we got our leased line installed;-) ). It has all the
features we used, both POP and SMTP. I don't know if it passes all
ORBS' and MAPS' relay test, like SIMS does. If it had done IMAP, I
think we would have stayed with QMPro.

Our problem was that the QMPro server was getting sluggish after a
few days use, processing the mail queue took several minutes. I think
the file handling was to blame, it creates a file for each message as
compared to the SIMS way with one massive file for each mailbox. I
suppose on older versions of MacOS you could probably fill up the
file system pretty quick if you did not keep an eye on the server.

As we all know, any message tossed at SIMS is delivered almost
instantaneous. I noticed that when I tried SIMS on the same hardware
as QMPro (a Performa 6200). QMPro scans for mail every 15 (user
defined) seconds, and as I mentioned above, the scanning took several
minutes, after which the message was delivered.

SIMS' pros:
* Speed (not a big issue if you spend money on faster hardware)
* Remote administration with Communigator and web browser
* Cheap (free)

QMPro's pros:
* You have a physical box and handbook you can show your boss
* You can find consultants supporting QMPro
(those two items above are very important to bosses, trust me)
* User-controlled vacation autoreplies (I miss this the most, saved
me a lot of work)

There are no major differences when it comes to functionality, and if
you are not upgrading to a later version of QMPro or adding users
(which both probably are quite noticeable costs), then I'd go with
the old saying: "If it ain't broke, don't fix it".
