Proxy and redirect differ fundamentally in that one maintains control of the
call routing (proxy), and the other passes control for call routing back to
the previous hop (redirect). Sometimes one makes sense, and sometimes the
other, depending on the application scenario. Many protocols have the notion
of these two operations (such as DNS, which has recursion and iteration).
