Hemal, I did a little search regarding this few weeks back and here is some info.
An unsolicited NOTIFY can be rejected if its not a reply for subscription. It can be done in a special case where both proxy and client are aware of event tokens. IF a registration message has an entry for event tokens, then proxy is allowed to send a notify even with out subscription for UA. If registration message does not have any event token entry, proxy should not send a notify. Here is a sample registration message with even tokens. REGISTER sip:68.143.198.21 SIP/2.0 Via: SIP/2.0/UDP 192.168.200.1:5090 From: <sip:[EMAIL PROTECTED]>;tag=11111 To: <sip:[EMAIL PROTECTED]> Call-ID: 99991 Allow: INVITE, ACK, CANCEL, BYE, REFER, NOTIFY Allow-Events:telephone-event Contact: <sip:[EMAIL PROTECTED]:5090> CSeq: 691550008 REGISTER Max-Forwards: 70 Expires: 45 Content-Length: 0 There are quite a few who replies that its just an agreement in between proxy an UA. Its up to UA to decide if he want to decode NOTIFY and use it or not..
