Greetings!

I'm curious what is the expected behaviour of both proxies and callee
endpoint UAS in the following situation. Does 486 busy ever clear
up (in both ringing phone and proxy) if nobody ever picks up.

SIP phone A sends an INVITE to SIP phone C (through proxy B). SIP
phone C starts ringing (180 ringing is send from C->B, then
forwarded from B->A).

Now SIP phone A dies and never comes back. Furthermore, nobody is
available to answer C, so it keeps ringing, and ringing, and
ringing......

Now if SIP Phone A comes back up and calls C again (through B), we
will get a 486 busy.

The question is when will the 486 busy clear up? Is the proxy and C
suppose to clear up after a time and cancel the call? (What if A
called C directly.... since A died, who would CANCEL the call on C?)

Here is why I am asking. We have a test tool that sends INVITEs,
then CANCELs the call after getting a 18x. Nobody is there to
answer the ringing phone, as we are planning on it being CANCEL'ed.
However, there are occasionally situations where the INVITE can't be
canceled. Hence, when we issue subsequent INVITEs we get the 486
response. We need to know if that 486 will clear up, and how that
happens.

Thanks,
-Russ
