Doesn't ring a bell to me but I've never setup a connection to CCM...
I'm going to push this back to the list because I think there are a
couple guys there who can help.

SIPXECS

Two things happening in my case:

1) if I configure the dial peer on SIPXECS to point to CUCM for "no
prefix + 4 digit" (match suffix) and call X-lite from IP Communicator
then I get "483 too many hops". When I capture the packets going back
and forth I notice a few 100 trying packets and then 483 too many hops
packets.
Another interesting thing with this case is this. I call 7050 (X-lite)
from 6010 (IP Communicator). CUCM6 sends a request to SIPXECS for
7...@192.168.1.70 <mailto:7...@192.168.1.70> . The next message is from
192.168.1.70 (SIPXECS) and it is a 100 TRYING message. The interesting
part is the following. SIPXECS sends a " Request: INVITE
sip:7...@192.168.1.80 " back to CUCM6..This doesnt make any sense
because 7050 is not on 192.168.1.80 (CUCM6). It is registered to
SIPXECS. So there is some sort of loopback. This goes like this back and
forth and the system starts to give 483 too many hops messages.

2) if I configure the dial peer on SIPXECS to point to CUCM for "6
prefix + 3 digit" (match all dialed digits) and call X-lite (ext.7050)
from IP Communicator (ext.6010) then I get a 404 not found message from
the SIPXECS server regarding extension 7050.....This also does not make
any sense.

By the way, in both cases I am able to make calls from X-lite to IP
Communicator. The calls originated to the reverse directions are messed
up...I wonder if it is a CUCM problem or a SIPXECS configuration problem
?!?!!?

Does any of this ring a bell?

Thanks

Looks pretty good. Do you have an alias set with the IP address of the
system in sipX?

Your sipX system is expecting calls to 7...@lab.com and not
7...@192.168.1.70.

I ended up building a new test network just to troubleshoot this problem
and I run into a new issue.
What I did was I took a 4 port switch and connected CUCM6
(192.168.1.80), sipxecs (192.168.1.70) and 2 laptops to it. Everything
is in the same 192.168.1.X network.

Both CUCM and sipxecs are built from scratch. One laptop has Cisco IP
communicator and registered to CUCM6 with 6010 extension.

The other laptop has X-lite softphone and registered to SIPX with 7010
extension.

CUCM6 is configured with domain name lab1.com. SIPX is configured with
lab.com.

CallManager is configured with a SIP trunk and a dial pattern pointing
to the SIP trunk for the following dial peer: 7XXX

I attached the dial peer configuration along with other screenshots to
this email.

I also attached the wireshark capture. The first few messages show a
good call made from X-lite to Cisco IP Communicator. The last 4 lines
are for a call made from IP Communicator to X-lite; and that is the one
that does not make any sense.

I hope this makes any sense because I am starting to give up on this :(

Thanks

I can't open that with wireshark for some reason.

Thanks Mike,

I hope you dont mind but I attached the wireshark capture. There is only
4 messages exchanged. You can use wordpad to open the file. After that I
get a fast busy on the Cisco side.

Again, sipX-to-Cisco calls work but the other way does not work.

I could not see any domain names mentioned in the attached capture.
Everything is configured based on IP on Callmanager and SIPx and the
packet exchange shows that only IP addresses are used. However, SIPX
server keeps sending this realm and nonce value within that 407 message
and I think callmanager doesnt like that...

I thought it was related to the permissions so what I did is I unchecked
all the permission levels for my dial peer, but this time when I call
sipx from callmanager, sipx startd to send back "483 too many hops"
messages. I was not sure if that was a one step forward or a complete
different problem so I left my custom dial peer in "local" permission
again.

It has been more than a day I am working on this issue and I really need
some help here..thanks again

You may want to try and capture some of that traffic with
wireshark/ethereal to see how it is coming to your system from Call
Manager.

If the traffic is coming from the IP address of the CM server, use the
IP address in your gateway definition on the sipXecs side. If the
traffic is coming from a SIP domain, you should use the SIP domain in
the gateway definition and make sure that your sipXecs server has the
proper DNS records to resolve the domain name.

Subject: [sipx-users] SIP trunk between Cisco Callmanager 6 and SIPXECS

I built a SIP trunk between a CUCM6 and SIPXECS server in our lab.
Everything in CUCM6 regarding SIP trunk is set to non-secure standard.
I can make phone calls from the phones registered to the sipxecs server
to the phones registered to CUCM6 server.
However, when I try the the other way around, the sipxecs server sends a
407 Proxy authentication required message back to CUCM6 and the call
fails. I only hear a fast busy signal on the phone which is registered
to CUCM6.

On sipxecs, I set up the trunk as unmanaged gateway.

Any ideas on how to disable this 407 proxy authentication? Or any ideas
on how to configure CUCM to respond those requests from sipxecs
properly?

Thanks
