We just finished migrating from an old 3Com nbx system to sipxecs. This is a
school district and on the old system it was configured so that dialing the
4 digit extension for a classroom during the school day would go straight to
voicemail. If you entered a * and then the 4 digit extension it would call
the classroom. I am trying to setup the same functionality in sipxecs and it
does not seem to be working as I expect.
I have created two dial plan custom rules. The first rule matches a * and 4
digits in the dialed number and the resulting call is just the matched
suffix. The second rule matches the 2 digit prefix for the classrooms and
then 2 digits and the resulting call sends it to voicemail directly. I
expected that if I dial *xxxx it would match the first rule and call the
phone, but instead it seems to match both rules and goes straight to
voicemail.

I have tried swapping the order of the rules, but that does not seem to make
any difference. Does anyone having suggestions? Or maybe a better method to
create the same functionality?

Thanks,
