If you read the issues being tracked at the tracker: track.sipfoundry.org
You'll be able to understand more. I think the core focus is to replace the VM system and add the features already mentioned. Further upgrades will be built upon that fs engine instead. I would encourage you to read both the roadmap and the tracker as it relates to vm. 4.2 is being worked on in 4.1 dev version. At some point the 5.0 features will be decided on and those will also be worked on. I don't know if you'll get the answers you are looking for here or on sipx-dev. ONE of the items being implemented in 4.1 as relates to VM is a short notification template for VM. No pager notification, but a email that is sent to the pager email address (works now), which will be much shortened later to be more sms friendly... I think the tracker has the information you are looking for. ============================ Tony Graziano, Manager Telephone: 434.984.8430 Fax: 434.984.8431 Email: tgrazi...@myitdepartment.net LAN/Telephony/Security and Control Systems Helpdesk: Telephone: 434.984.8426 Fax: 434.984.8427 Helpdesk Contract Customers: http://www.myitdepartment.net/gethelp/ ----- Original Message ----- From: sipx-users-boun...@list.sipfoundry.org <sipx-users-boun...@list.sipfoundry.org> To: sipx-users@list.sipfoundry.org <sipx-users@list.sipfoundry.org> Sent: Fri Nov 27 13:34:47 2009 Subject: Re: [sipx-users] 4.2 voicemail feature set *Bump* Josh Patten Assistant Network Administrator Brazos County IT Dept. Josh Patten wrote: Here are the three advantages I've seen to using the new FreeSWITCH voicemail system over the old one so far: * Better Performance * IMAP integration * HD Audio Are there other functional advantages to the new voicemail system? Will it have shiny new things no one has talked about yet? What would be nice is if it had an "on call" pager feature so that a notification number could be set so when a new voicemail is received someone is notified via phone or pager. I currently implement this in Asterisk with the old style (current) sipX voicemail system and check the voicemail folder on the hard disk every 10 seconds. It's a bit of a kludge but it's stable so far and it would be nice if I didn't have to rewrite it for the new voicemail system (IMAP checking in Python....sounds nasty). Also, will there be an easy way in 4.2 to migrate users voicemails/greetings to IMAP or will they have to "start fresh" and redo everything? When the 4.2 upgrade is performed, will everyone be migrated to the new voicemail system automatically or will it be a manual process with some users on the old and new at the same time? Just trying to get my 4.2 migration planning and testing phase started and I would like to have the best information possible to begin with. Thanks. _______________________________________________ sipx-users mailing list sipx-users@list.sipfoundry.org List Archive: http://list.sipfoundry.org/archive/sipx-users Unsubscribe: http://list.sipfoundry.org/mailman/listinfo/sipx-users sipXecs IP PBX -- http://www.sipfoundry.org/
