Thanks. Will look forward to your patch. In the mean time I will use the patch 
that you suggested. In my case the end point that I am connecting to will time 
out (shut down the connection) if no audio is sent during a silent period. In 
other words it always expect to receive some RTP packets. It strikes me that it 
might be nice to have this be some kind of sipxtapi option for a call.
