Interesting. Workflows are so different.
(I only open Skim through TextMate . . . :) -- not really true.)

As in my previous reply, I guess I have to sing the praise of the dedicated 
launcher in general, and LaunchBar in particular, once more. I venture to say 
that there is no better way to open a file but by way of LaunchBar. It’s fast. 
Really.

Dave, the thing is that when going the way of command-F Finder thinks you’re 
searching for the entered search term (I mean, you entered a search term, 
right?! -- maybe that’s wrong of Finder, really, I can see your point: you just 
want to find your file), and that just shows once more how superior launcher 
apps are in having an actual file system, and “eat” it too, i.e. don’t be 
hassled by it, like: finding immediately the file you’re looking for, etc. 
That’s why, imho, no Mac is ready until loaded with LaunchBar (or something 
comparable -- except, there ain’t nothing, although Quicksilver users would 
disagree . . .).
