Just had two quick questions - I am using Skype version 3.8: 1. I seem to remember reading in previous posts on this list that it is recommended not to check the "Let Skype adjust my Audio Settings" checkbox under "Tools", "Options" and "Audio". Is that correct and, if so, why is that the recommended setting? I am asking this because I just purchased an Ipevo Free-1 USB Skype phone and it works much better if I check this option and so far I have not experienced any negative effects because of it. 2. I also seem to remember that Skype had an option to automatically pause Winamp if a call was coming in. I found this a useful feature, but can't seem to find it under any of the tabs in the Options. Has that feature been removed? Just out of curiocity, is anybody else on here using any kind of Skype phone, USB or wireless? I use Skype a lot with Skype Out for calling long distance in Canada, to the US as well as Germany. I have tried the Netgear WiFi phone, but the voice quality isn't the greatest and the battery life is poor. I am very happy with the Ipevo Free-1 phone, it is a basic USB phone and I paid about $35 canadian for it. It has an 8 foot USB cord, a buttom which when pressed focuses Skype on the computer and then there is a up and down toggle with which you can scroll through the contact list. You also have a "Plus" button and if you press it it puts you straight into the addressbar after a "+" symbol and you can just dial whatever number you want to call with Skype Out like you would on a regular phone. Then press the "Talk" button and the call goes through. There is also a Volume Up and Down on the side of the phone and three programmable function keys which you can program with Redial, Hold, Voice Mail etc. The Free-1 offers 16 Bit sound quality for Skype-to-Skype calls and 8 bit for Skype-to-phone calls. There is also a Free-2 version of the phone which has an LCD display and it comes with free recording software and you can record a conversation with the press of a single button on the phone. Since I am quite happy with the Ipevo USB phone, I have just ordered the Ipevo Solo Desktop phone for my business, it is a corded desktop speaker phone with Skype embedded and it gets connected directly to your router with a Cad 5 cable which makes it a stand-alone phone not requiring the computer to be on. It offers the same voice quality as the USB phone, i.e. 16 bit for skype-to-skype and 8 bit for skype-to-phone calls and the nice thing is that it always on and there are no practical limitations to cable length as you can easily go 100 feet with Cad 5 cable which is more than enough for most applications. The only disadvantage here is that sighted help is needed to initially setup the phone, i.e. set the date/time and sign into Skype which has to be done through the keypad. I am as to whether it is possible (with sighted help) to do the sign-in and remember all the keystrokes so that I could do it by myself in case it ever got disconnected during a power-outage etc. I can put up a little review on the list if people on here are interested.
