Ah. My experience then concurs with what you said, Doug--namely, logging
in to Vista with the latest security update to JAWS 11 gives me these
annoying messages, which I will ignore as I have. And for anyone who
hasn't added me and wants to, my Skype name is markdriesenga

Got a few things to say here...
First, from your email, it sounds like you're using the new security
release of JAWS 11, or possibly the security release of JAWS 9 or 10.
There is a known problem in those JAWS versions wherein you hear those
messages about assigning keys. The messages are admittedly annoying
but harmless, and in my experience, they only occur on login and UAC
screens, and only in Vista and Windows 7. I have heard that one or
two people may have heard those messages in Windows XP though.
You say your machine is shutting down. SkypeWatch shouldn't cause
that even if installed incorrectly, so I'm not sure what's going on
there.
As for getting SkypeWatch to announce things, once it is correctly
installed, you'll need to make sure you have enabled the appropriate
systray alerts for the things you want announced. That's done through
Tools, Options, Notifications in Skype itself.
And yes, it's ok to share Skype names on this list. We try to
minimize the social chatter but not squelch it entirely. :)

Hi!
I've been using Skype for awhile now, but only just learned about this list.
I'm looking forward to finding out lots of things about this wonderful program,
and hopefully, at some time, I'll be able to help someone with it.
But, for now, I think I'm in deep trouble here! I tried to use the skypewatch
installer, and since then, I've gotten an error message every time I shut down the
computer. I can't copy the message, because the computer is shutting down, but it
says something like failed to install alt+scroll lock+f9 for sw" I think I'm
forgetting part of it. Has anyone encountered this, and can I fix it? Also, it seems
that it isn't working at all, since it isn't announcing anything.
Also, a friend says that her file was called SW Installer0.1, and had a ReadMe
file. Mine was called SkypeWatch Installer 1.00.3.exe, and had no read me file
in the folder.
If this makes sense to anyone, I would be more than grateful for a little help!
I'm looking forward to getting to know you, and I promise, I'm not always such
a whiner!
Oh, and do we share skype names on this list?
Thanks,
