I will re-paste a message which Doug posted some time ago and which I saved
on a secure position because it surely could be useful and not only for me
from what I am seeing. It's referred to Skype 4.1 which I am currently
using, and procedures work ok for me. Skype 4.2 beta users, test these.

Ok, I have finally gotten round to testing conferencing in Skype 4.1,
and I have not encountered any problems, though I'm not sure how many
people know how to do everything related to conferencing in Skype 4.1.
For reference, and for anyone to add to, improve upon, or just learn
from, here are the ways I manage conferences in Skype 4.1:
To create a conference by adding an outgoing call to an existing call:
Use Invite To Conference instead of Call when calling the second
person.
To add an incoming call to a conference (directions courtesy of Roger
Cusson): Press Ctrl+3 for the Live Conversations List, then Home for
the incoming call, then Applications, then choose Invite To
Conference.
To drop a specific member from a conference, or to re-add one who has
dropped: Find the participant list, which I do with a double Ctrl+6
and then a few tabs until I hit a listItem. Then use arrows to select
the contact you want, and tab until you hit End Call if you're
dropping, or Call if you're adding. Hit Space to activate the button.
Note that depending on your profile layout, you may need to use
up/down arrows or left/right arrows to move among contacts in the
participant list.
To eject someone from the conference, which is different than just
dropping the call to that person: Same process of finding the
participant, but then instead of tabbing to find Call or End Call,
RouteJAWSToPC and right click for a Context menu. The last option,
quickly reachable with an UpArrow, is Remove from Conversation. This
will remove the person from both the call and the text chat, and also
from the participant list. If you know the person's Skype ID by
heart, a very quick alternative is to go to the chat input window for
the conference and type /kick <id>, where <id> is the Skype ID.
Notice the slash in front of "kick."
To hold, resume, or hang up the entire conference, or to mute or
unmute your microphone: Select the appropriate item from the Call
menu.
If anyone has better methods for any of those, or things I left out,
or problems with all this, please write back to the list so we can
work out a complete system. I'm doing this because so many people
have remarked on having trouble conferencing in Skype 4.
