Actually, Skype didn't broke any accessibility. The reason for the mood
edit box (or button) not to appear in the Skype's main window (including
in the TAB order) is because it has been removed from there. So, our
picture/avatar and our mood message are no longer below our Skype name
in the main window of Skype, but in the so called "Skype Home" (witch is
something like a web page), from within where we can edit our mood by
navigating to an edit field, editing the text in it (by entering forms
mode), and updating the information by tabing and activating the
"Update" link in the same window. Actually, we can review and edit our
mood text in another place, and that is the place where we review and
edit our Skype profile data. That window can be reached from the
"Personal profile" option in the "View" menu, or from the "Edit personal
profile" option in the "Skype -> Personal data" menu. And if we press
spacebar on our Skype display name in Skype's main window, the focus is
moved to the so called "Skype Home" (at least it is so in the "Compact
view").

I'm betting Doug managed to script this to work properly, as always, but

The last time I tried skype 5.0 beta was a few months ago, and at that
time they'd also completely broken accessibility on the sms window when
dialing a regular phone number. This has definitely been fixed, I can
now access the dial pad and everything else I was formerly able to
access in skype 4.2.
