That was what I was going to do today, I had limited time yesterday and
mgetty wasn't on the machine (nor agetty, the other likely option). The
thing that gets me is that the software setup is correct and works on other
machines, yet as far as I can tell the hardware is fine since I'm able to
communicate between the machines with a terminal program.
I'll grab mgetty and see what happens (and no doubt be swearing at getty
for the rest of the evening).

Yeah mgetty is a pretty versatile package. I've heard of people using it
for incoming faxes, has anyone here got experience with using it for
voicemail / interactive voice response systems? Or indeed such systems
with a non-mgetty setup? That is probably more appropriate for a new
thread :)
