APC tends to err on the side of caution, and this is what you are
referring to. If your computer can handle the lower voltage, use
powerchute to set the lower limit a bit lower. That should solve
all your problems.

And the extra expense of keeping the converter always running.
You might as well run another (heavily loaded) computer at the
same time, as this is approximately how much power you will
use.
