/cdrom/RedHat/RPMS/imap-4.4-2.i386.rpm

Not on my disks. However on the other CD under /Srpms/ I find imap-4_4
which is what I tried to install.

rpm -qa | grep imap 

says nothing, and as I said before, if I repeat the rpm, I don't get the
"already installed message".  So it looks like rpm is not doing its
thing, although I don't get any messages to this effect.
