Well there ya go: Microsoft is contributing to the IT skills shortage
(by ensuring new graduates are not too skilled in non-MS ware I guess :)

Still, it has to be costing them more than installing Linux on 75k PC's.

Maybe someone (with some free time) should put in a counter offer
for 75k linux licenses (which the staff _and_ students could use
at home as well). Even if they didn't take up the offer (likely), maybe
the press would pick up news and highlight the cost savings
that could be had by our cash poor educational institutions...
