Michael really means

    /var/qmail/control/smtproutes

and the syntax is

    mail.for.domain:deliver.to.box

eg

    in.frog.com.au:mailhost.ind.toad.com.au

Mail for in.frog.com.au will be delivered to the host known as
mailhost.ind.toad.com.au.
