I had to share this... kind of interesting.
The free domain names at the show were spose to be limited to one per
person. What you didn't see on the site after you registerred was the
account id it generated for you, since we are mailing them out today.
By Friday afternoon, some 900 domains had been registerred at the show... so
it was to my GREAT surprise that I came in this morning to find that 1500
domains had been done...
Since the normal option to use an existing au.com account was removed from
the contact form, I had a squiz at the new account list, only to find
massive amounts of duplicate accounts, all strangely created over the
weekend :)
Oh dear!!! Some poor fools had memorised the ip of the site, and gone in on
the weekend and registerred over 40 ( in the worst cases ) "free" domains...
heheh
And somehow thought I wouldn't notice? Pleeeeeease!!!
Correlating the list of offenders with the slug mailing list I just
retrieved from Majordomo, I would like to publicly humiliate the following
people..
Well, actually, maybe not... but I was a little dissapointed ( you know who
you are Mr 36 domains :) ).
You give stuff away for free, and people try to exploit ya, handy rule of
thumb... but oh well :)
I hold no grudges... probably would have tried to do the same thing myself.
