Stuart Hume wrote: Hi all,  I am not sure how to ask this but here goes, if a user types domainname.com.au into a browser instead of www.domainname.com.au, is there a way to configuredns to send a request to http://www.domainname.com.au I am having problems working out where to startTIAStuart Yes, its not too hard,, as Kieran pointed out, you use the CNAME resource record (RR)  to  make the name www.domain.com.au equivalent to the name domain.com.au.  Although, usually,  the actual  name of the domain, is not normally the name of a host on your domain,  then you can find the record domain.com.au        CNAME    webhost.domain.com.au where  webhost.domain.com.au, is the hostname running  your web server and where the entry  domain.com.au is also a CNAME  record, which should point to the host which has the apache server running on it. You can do what chuck has suggested, on  the web server,  but you still need to put your entries in the DNS zone files, because if you don't, and there is no entry pointing domain.com.au ,  to the host running the web server, then the packets will not reach the server itself to be redirected.
