MS just lost a major case.... After months of argument the judge agreed
with the US Government that MS acted illegally.
"Microsoft's anticompetitive actions trammeled the competitive process
through which the computer software industry generally stimulates innovation
and conduces the optimum benefit of consumers," U.S. District Judge Thomas
Penfield Jackson wrote in a scathing, 50-page opinion released late Monday
afternoon.
See http://cnnfn.com/2000/04/03/technology/microsoft/ for a summary and
http://usvms.gpo.gov/ for the full decision.
My personnel observation of the PC world since 1980 supports the Judges'
opinion.
MS may have your 'loyalty', they lost mine in the mid 1980s with their
business practices.

Richard Ames
