I had a similar problem with an "old" A5PT motherboard - the solution for
me was;
HDA - 8.4Gb.
HDB - CD Writer
HDC - CD-ROM
HDD - Nothing (actually, now a ZIP drive)
Worked fine until I moved the CD-ROM into another box, Put the CD-Writer on
HDC and it still works fine - boots, etc.
