Assuming the MTA is sendmail...  What about Smail, Qmail, Exim...

Although procmail really only works for local deliveries - so only local
accounts are protected.  What if this is a pass-thru mail spool (ie - mail
is delivered elsewhere, not delivered locally.

The scripts handle this as-is, without interfering with the MTA or the
local delivery agent.
