just copy (or symlink, or direct mount if its already accurate) the
.debs into something that duplicates the directory structure on the
ftp sites
then run dpkg-scanpackages(8) occasionally to build the Packages
lists.. check the debian-non-US/indices directories and grab the
{mk,inst}packages scripts - they do exactly that
at work, we keep exact copies of debian{,-non-US}/stable (by rsync'ing
with mirror.aarnet) in a debian-canonical directory and then i built a
similar tree (with symlinks) that combines "non-US" and adds our own
"local". (this would be unecessary now that apt exists and supports
multiple (prioritised) sources - but it still means we only need one
line in sources.list, and thats important ;)
scripts, more explanation, etc available on request..
(the best bit is the "apt-get -qq update; yes '' | apt-get -qq -y upgrade"
from a cron job ;)
