Part of the problem is that neither of these programs know about RFC2369
related headers. Nor does the SLUG list. Once RFC2369 becomes widespread
I think most of the problems will tend to go away.

I think it is up to the list participants to decide policy. You then hope
the listowner will carry out your wishes.
