Basically, yes. The old stuff is still there and source code available
(pgp 2.6.2i), still needing someone to replace the command line parsing
with something saner, but it works fine. At some stage between then
and now, it became commercialised. The products have certainly become
more polished. I still have a soft spot for the old stuff.
Come to think of it, version 5.x I think is around. There is the
brilliant pgpdisk for Windows that lets you create virtual encrypted
hard drives (part of version 6.x) which works well.
I can't recall if there is a pgpdisk (pgpmount?) for Linux.

Yeah, it's great. Only reason it's not part of every Linux install is
the US arms legislation, and the fact that you need different versions
for US and elsewhere, due to RSA licensing.
Everyone should have a copy of pgp on their machine.
