on the topic of the ata100 cards, i managed to get an 'abit hotrod 100' card
working.
but was only able to get it working with kernel 2.2.16 since there was a
patch available for it.

http://www.abit.com.tw/english/product/peripheral%20cards/h100.htm

with the patch being here ->
http://www.highpoint-tech.com/ide.2.2.16.20000630.patch.bz2

Since its patched, itll detect it as a hpt366 when infact its a hpt370

Im using slack 7.1 w/resier and a hpt370 card.

If anyone has got this card working with a kernel other than 2.2.16, let me
know.
thanks.

Btw, i used just a single boot so i didnt have the plethora of problems you
had.

I have a KT7-raid as well. I can confirm that your (our) motherboard does
*not* have a HPT366 controller, but in fact, uses a HPT370 controller. That

might not help you with your lilo problem, but it might later cause
problems if your kernel doesnt support the HPT370.
